Woodside Gardens on Tour Saturday June 26th!

The 2nd annual Master Gardener Educational Garden Tour right here in Woodside on Saturday, June 26th. The Master Gardners of San Mateo and San Fransisco Counties, which is part of the University of California Cooperative Extension, is sponsoring a garden tour, plant sale and educational opportunity.

Gardens to see – The tour will explore three private properties and two local public gardens that integrate edibles with ornamentals, create intimate spaces, and showcase color and styles.

Plants to buy – A plant sale featuring Master Gardener-grown plants, includes flowers, natives, edibles, and much more, will be at one of the locations.

Advice to grow by – Master Gardeners will lead nine 15 minute mini-seminars. Each will be given 3 times. Topics include container gardening, caring for oaks, composting, year-round vegetable gardening, keeping chickens, and growing natives. Master Gardeners will be available all day to answer your questions.

You can also send in samples of troubled plants or drop them by the office, located at 80 Stone Pine Road, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019 or email In addition, a Plant Clinic is held at the San Mateo Arboretum Kohl Pump House, located at 9th and Palm in San Mateo’s Central Park, from 11:30 to 1:00 pm on the first Sunday of every month. The Cooperative Extension is the county-based education and research branch of the University of California’s Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Cooperative Extension has been serving San Mateo County since 1945, and San Francisco County since 1970. The Master Gardeners have worked as non-paid staff members of the University of California Cooperative Extension answering public inquiries and providing information on all areas of plant health and gardening practices. These dedicated volunteers are committed to sharing their love of gardening and horticulture and providing home gardeners and community organizations the know-how to create a healthy environment for our counties. To take the tour you can buy advance tickets costing $25 online here until June 24 or by mailing a check before June 19th, payable to “UC Regents” to: Master Gardener Education Garden Tour, PO Box 322, Pacifica, CA 94044.
