Town Wants Your Help On COWmmittees!

There are plenty of openings in various COWmmitees. These COWmittees play an important role in advising the COWncil on a herd of issues. Committees are a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference! So come join us and help support our wonderful Woodside COWmunnity!

Here are some of the Town COWmmittee openings:

Planning Commission District 1 – Application deadline March 5th.
The Planning Commission plays a very important role developing the land use policies of the Town. It makes recommendations to the Town Council on ordinances and resolutions to implement the General Plan. The Commission also conducts public hearings on applications for zoning amendments, conditional use permits, variances, subdivisions and other related functions as may be assigned by the Council.

Meeting days and times: the first and third Wednesday at 7:30pm.
This appointment runs until February 2016.

Arts and Cultural Affairs Committee – This Committee initiates, sponsors and celebrates local art, creativity and cultural activities including, but not limited to, the areas of art, photography, design, music, horticulture, culinary arts, literature, drama and dance. It helps create opportunities to educate, inform and engage the community about cultural affairs and organizes and supervises events to showcase local creative talent.
Meeting Days and Times: the second Monday of every month at 4:00pm. Term information: Appointments are for 2 year terms.

Livestock and Equestrian Heritage Committee – This Committee reviews applications for professional stable permits and forwards recommendations to the Planning Commission. It makes recommendations to the Planning Director on applications for exceptions to the private stable regulations. It conducts inspections of stables in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Code. The Committee develops and supports education and information programs which aid the community in sustaining and protecting, the equestrian nature of our Town.
Meeting Days and Times: the fourth Wednesday of each month; 5:30pm. Appointments are for two-year terms.

Open Space Committee _ The Committee provides advice on implementing the goals and policies of the Open Space and Conservation Elements of the General Plan, with an emphasis on enhancing the open space system and the preservation and restoration of wildlife habitat. The Committee develops and recommends educational programs and materials which foster public awareness. It makes recommendations on the acquisition and maintenance of open space and conservation easements. It collaborates with neighboring towns and regional entities to preserve scenic vistas, tracts of open space and wildlife habitat.
Meeting Days and Times: the fourth Thursday of each month, 5:30pm. Appointments are for two-year terms.

Public Safety Committee _ This Committee advises the Town Council and staff on issues of community public safety, including police and fire services provided within the Town. It meets on an as needed basis Meets on call of Chair. Appointments are for two-year terms.

Recreation Committee – The Committee’s focus is the community recreation programs. Meeting Days and Times: the first Thursday of each month at, 7:30pm. Appointments are for three-year terms..

Sustainability and Conservation Committee – The Committee advises and assists on the implementation of the goals and policies of the Sustainability and Conservation Elements of the General Plan, with emphasis on resource conservation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The Committee develops and recommends educational programs in order to foster public awareness of environmental issues and recommends action programs and regulations which further sustainability and conservation.
Meeting Days and Times: the fourth Monday of each month, 6:00pm. Appointments are for two-year terms.

Trails Committee – The Committee reviews land divisions, subdivisions and conditional use permits for locations for equestrian, pedestrian and bicycle trails and makes recommendations to the staff and to the Planning Commission. Meeting Days and Times: the second Thursday of each month at 3:00pm. Appointments are for two-year terms.

Woodside History Committee – The Committee advises the Town Council and staff regarding actions, policies, and plans relating to historic preservation. It also recommends means for ensuring the security and public accessibility of the Town’s historic archives. The Committee gathers and catalogues historic material. Meeting Days and Times: the second Thursday of each month at 10:00am. Appointments are for two-year terms.
