Thanksgiving is time to reflect and give thanks. We are grateful for our beautiful COWmunity with its hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, tennis, vineyards, wonderful restaurants, terrific schools and its herd of wonderful COWs. There is always so much to see and do and enjoy, here in the heart of Silicon Valley.
This year more than any other in recent memory, many could use a helping hand. There are many other volunteer activities. Check out the Volunteer page of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties here. Second Harvest of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties or help seniors here and families here.
Thanksgiving is also a time for family, friends and having fun. This year there’s a wide variety of holiday festivities and events in our area. As we mentioned in our Hoovesray Filoli article, Filoli Gardens always has a COW-rrific holiday venue. This years Winter Wonderland theme may be just the thing to start your holiday fun, check them out here. If you like fair’s and parades the 30th annual San Rafael parade of lights may be just your thing. Or maybe you prefer art exhibits, Los Gatos has a Art show with paintings, 3D sculpture and more open on Thanksgiving or perhaps you like wearable or usable art, then try the gourd showcase going on now until the 29th. A lovely Thanksgiving drive through our mountains can also be a valuable shopping experience with Ben Lomond’s Gift of Art.
Perhaps you dream of a bold new future, then the Star Trek at the Tech Museum of Innovation Thanksgiving day is where you will want to be. Or if you are more into the good old days, then you can visit King Tut and the Golden Age of the Pharaoh’s exhibit.
The annual Great Dickens Christmas Fair returns to the Cow Palace the Friday after Thanksgiving (and continues through December 20th). You can explore Dickensian London and shop amidst performers in period costumes. You can also kick up your hoofs and enjoy a holiday tradition with the Nutcracker at either end of the bay San Francisco and San Jose
