Our own fabulous Filoli is Celebrating Spring and invites you to enjoy the abundance of spring flowers by strolling in its magnificent historic gardens. The spring season is now and continues into April. The gardens are filled with flowers from containers of daffodils and tulips, beds of spring annuals, and trees and shrubs all adding to the magnificent spring canvas. As the Filoli website describes it, “Mid-March to mid-April is the time when the garden is at its most floriferous.”
For those who are not familiar with Filoli, it is a 654-acre property featuring a Georgian Revival-style mansion which has been turned into a living museum with 16-acres of exquisite formal gardens, an operating Gentleman’s Orchard, and a nature preserve with a public Estate Trail. Filoli is open for Easter and Mother’s Day, making it a wonderful a family holiday destination.
Filoli has just introduced its “What’s Blooming” cart, where each week, five plants will be highlighted from the garden. The cart will have metal vases with chalkboard nametags, which will correspond to a map of the garden so you can more easily locate and identify the plants.
Filoli has a number of special events which you can check out here. Some events such as the Mother’s Day, Mad Hatter Tea and Ballroom Concert – Chamber Music Night – March 25, 4:00pm–6:00pm have charges in addition to the admission fee while the Specialty Hikes and Tours through May 20 have no extra charge.
