Horses and Woodside go together like a hand and glove so we want to give a shout out to the Vaulting teams from Woodside and Portola Valley that are sending their winning riders and horses to compete at the International Federation for Equestrian Sports World Equestrian Games. The games are being held between September 11–23 near the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. More than 1,300 riders and horses in eight disciplines are participating.

We frequently hear from COWs that the building approval process is a “nightmare” “overly burdensome” and “unfair”. We have been writing about concerns about permitting issues and policy for years.

While a few things have improved, a sampling of comments from Woodside Citizens from the Town’s COWmmunity Survey show there is still a lot of improvement needed. There were some positive responses but the vast majority were negative. The most consistent issues are that there was no response from the Town to multiple emails or calls from residents; the process was unnecessarily arduous; Staff were more obstructionists than helpful; and …

One of our favorite annual events is the Kings Mountain Art Fair on Labor Day weekend, September 1, 2 & 3 from 10 am – 5 pm! So we say moo-sy on up the hill for three days of fun, food and some mighty fine art to look at or buy. The Kings Mountain Art Fair benefits the Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade and other cowmunity activities, including the Kings Mountain Elementary School. The Fair is run completely by local volunteers so come on out among the beautiful Redwoods and support your neighbors.
