Mountain Lion Meeting Thursday, August 25 7PM

August 22, 2011

There have been a number of Mountain lion spottings in our area in the past year. Most recently, there is a report of a mountain lion walking in Woodside along the roadway in the vicinity of the 400 block of Old La Honda Road at about 9:15 p.m. on Monday August 15th.

The Town is holding an informational meeting on Mountain Lions at Town Hall’s Independence Hall this Thursday, August 25 at 7PM. Yiwei Wang, a doctoral student at UC Santa Cruz, who has studied mountain lions in the Santa Cruz Mountains over the last two and a half years, will be leading this discussion. In order to study behavior in relation to human development and other animals, Ms. Wang and her advisor have attached tracking devises to 24 mountain lions.

Ms Wang will be providing information about the mountain lion in general and tips on coexisting safely with mountain lions. The presentation will last about 45 minutes, followed by a question and answer session of an additional 45 minutes.

As you know space in Independence Hall is limited so please call Town Hall 851-6790 to reserve a seat.

We applaud the Town for bringing us information on this topic.
