It’s time to strap on our party COW bells because Woodside’s 88th May Day Parade is here! A celebration of spring, our annual Woodside Fun Run, Parade and Carnival is this Saturday May 1st 2010. This annual May Day celebration is one of the things that makes Woodside so special, so giddy-on over COW’s and have some fun!
Strap running shoes on your hooves since the day will begin with the 18th Annual Fun Run. The run takes you through scenic Woodside and is 2.25 miles long. There will be fruit, muffins and refreshments for all registered participants. This is a family event so any age, any ability are welcome. Registration begins at 7:30 am in front of the Woodside library. The race starts at 8:30 am in front of the Woodside Village Church. The top three runners from each age group will receive a medal and all children under 14 will receive a ribbon.
A great pancake breakfast sponsored by the Rotary Club will be served at the Woodside Village Church from 8 to 10 a.m. There is also a wonderful barbecue lunch held at Woodside School from noon to 2 p.m.
The May Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. with registration starting at 9 a.m. at Woodside School, 3195 Woodside Road. The parade has animals, horse and riders, classic cars, bands, music and much, much more. The parade goes along Woodside Road from the School down to Roberts Market. It is a very entertaining and fun filled event. If you want to march, registration forms are also available in advance at the school office, or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
The traditional May Pole Dance performed by Woodside Elementary Third Graders will be held at the school at 11:15 a.m.
The carnival will be held on the school grounds and includes many fun games and stands. It starts at noon and ends at 3p.m. This is a great place to let the young-uns go and run off some of that energy from a penned up winter. It’s also a great way to meet and say howdy to your neighbors.
Happy May Day everyone!
