It is time again for the annual May Day Parade and Fun Run! The 93rd annual May Day Parade (and 24th annual Fun Run) will be on Saturday, May 2nd this year. The festivities draw together more than 170 volunteers every year to create this Moo-velous COW-munity event!
If you’re the sporty type, you should participate in the annual Fun Run put on by the Woodside Recreation Committee. Registration for the run starts at 7:30 am, and the two mile Run usually kicks off at 8:30 by the Woodside Library.
Registration forms are available at Buck’s, Robert’s Market, and the school or you can get one at http://www.woodsidetown.org/community/recreation.
For some of us, the idea of delicious warm pancakes on a Saturday morning is more alluring than the idea of pounding the pavement. The Woodside-Portola Valley Rotary Club has got us covered with their Annual Larry Wenrick Memorial Pancake Breakfast, hosted at the Woodside Village Church from 8 to 10 am.
The Parade will hoof it down Woodside Road starting from Woodside Road and Albion Avenue at 10 am, and it’s quite a sight to see. Every year, the Parade features beautiful horses with their riders, parade floats, live bands, and classic cars in all their entertaining variety. The Parade is lead by the Grand Marshal and the kindergarten Royal Court.
Afterwards, there’s still plenty to do! The third graders of Woodside Elementary School perform their Maypole Dance at the amphitheater, and the carnival runs all day at the school. Great food and live music keep the fun flowing, as families sample the carnival games, crafts and booths available. The Town’s Citizen of the Year awards are bestowed during the event, a nice acknowledgement of the hard work the volunteers of this Town put in every year.
So come out and meet your neighbors and enjoy all that Woodside living has to offer, at this year’s May Day Celebration!
