August 26, 2019

On Labor Day weekend, August 31, September 1 & 2nd 10AM – 5PM, Kings Mountain Art Fair, which is one of our favorite annual events, takes place here in Woodside. This is the 56th year for the Fair. It is ranked as one of the top 3 finest art fairs in California, based upon artists’ responses to the Art Fair SourceBook.

The Fair benefits the Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade and other community activities, including the Kings Mountain Elementary School. It is staffed completely by volunteers. It is located in a beautiful setting to spend a wonderful day.

The Art displayed is truly first class. There are well over a 100 juried artists using all types of mediums. Come see these special works of art and support our local artists.

The Fair boasts a “Kiddie Hollow” which is a dedicated space just for kids located down the hill from the Cookie Booth and is open 10AM to 4PM. For a small fee children can create their own art at supervised booths including spin, string, straw, and glitter art, among other activities. There is also a Parent’s Retreat overlooking Kiddie Hollow, where the adults can relax while the children play.

You can meet local Firefighters at their booth next to the Upper Beverage Booth. There you can get your blood pressure checked and learn about the adventures of a volunteer firefighter, the history of the Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade, There are free fire protection related items, including a Smokey the Bear coloring book for the kids.

There is lots of food at the fair as well! The Cookshack serves breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All meals are prepared and served by volunteers. We especially appreciate the menu with an FAQ for those with food allergies or dietary restrictions. In addition, just around the corner from the Cookshack, you can get the kids what are claimed to be the world’s largest cookies. All proceeds from cookie sales benefit the Kings Mountain Elementary School.
Fair admission and parking are free. Please note NO Pets allowed.
