Long time Woodside resident and ASRB member Glenn Atkinson, was recently named to the Board of Directors of Grand National Rodeo, Horse, and Stock Show by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Grand National is a “county agricultural fair,” run by the California Department of Food and Agriculture and is one of the largest rodeo events in the United States. Held annually at the Cow Palace, the Grand National features a wide range of rodeo and livestock events and concerts by renowned country performers.
Glenn has served as president of Portola Farms, one of the largest commercial stables in Woodside, since 1987. Besides providing much needed boarding space, Portola Farms is also home to equestrian and canine training. Glenn is also a member of the Mounted Patrol of San Mateo County as well as the San Mateo County Horsemen’s Association. He and his wife Nancy have served as key advocates for horses in our community and abroad.
The Grand National Rodeo, Horse, and Stock Show will be at the Cow Palace on April 4-13th! Come join your fellow COWs at the COW Palace in April. Yippee—aye—oh Hooray!
