We wanted to moo our congratulations to Kenny Diekroeger, a Town resident of Woodside and Stanford sophomore, for being selected to Baseball America’s All-America team this preseason. Kenny was selected for the first team. He was also listed as the top 10 prospects for the 2012 draft. Stanford’s press release points out that the 6’2” shortstop who had a .356 batting average (leading the roster) and 41 RBIs last year for Stanford, is rated the “No. 2 sophomore in the country” by Baseball America. Baseball America is a magazine that focuses on baseball from high school, college, foreign leagues, and major and minor leagues. The All-America team award is one of several the magazine awards to individuals and teams.
Also this year, the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper honored Kenny by naming him to their All-American second team.
Kenny played third base as a freshman, but moved to shortstop this past fall after teammate Jake Schlander was drafted by the Pulaski Mariners, the Seattle Mariners’ farm team. In 2010. Kenny was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Pac-10, and Freshman All-American. In high school, he was a four year letterman in baseball at Menlo School in Atherton.
