The Annual Earth Fair will be held in Portola Valley rather than Woodside, this year. It is co-sponsored by Woodside’s Sustainability and Conservation Committee. This year’s Fair will be held at Portola Valley Town Center on April 23rd from 11:00 to 3:00. The theme revolves around the reduction of food waste.
Events include exhibits and something called “the Food Too Good to Waste Challenge!”
The UCCE Master Food Preservers of San Mateo/San Francisco Counties will provide an introduction to safe home preservation methods such as dehydrating, freezing, canning, pickling, and fermenting at 11:30 am in the Library. Learn about food safety, kitchen supplies, tried-and-true recipes, and how to preserve your harvest for a year or more.
Also the Alphabet Rockers Hip Hop Show is at 1:30 pm on the Performance Lawn. There will be Chaparral Ranch Petting Zoo, an Electric Vehicle Showcase and Live Music by Charged Particles as well as the Rainbarrel Raffle & Shower Head Demo .
Biking and carpooling is encouraged. All bicyclists will receive a $2.00 off voucher redeemable at any food truck. Refillable water bottles are encouraged. There will be a refilling station and water fountains on site. Composting is encouraged. Free compost (up to 2 bags) provided by GreenWaste will be available from 11 am – 3 pm (while supplies last). Paper shredding is encouraged too. Free document shredding from 11 am – 3 pm A Shred-It truck will be on-site where your documents will be securely destroyed and recycled.
