Giddy up partners and head on out for a great local July 4th celebration!

Spend the day right here in Woodside at the Junior Rodeo at the Mounted Patrol grounds on Kings Mountain Road. A great Woodside tradition, The Mounted Patrol invites the whole family to this yearly event. Young people from around the state participate in events like women’s barrel racing, roping and bull riding. There’s also a petting zoo, pony rides, mechanical bull rides and the always entertaining pig scramble. Go here for more information and tickets!

Redwood City is having its 75th annual Independence Day parade and festival! It’s the largest Independence Day Parade in Northern California. The fun begins at 9:00 AM with the festival and the parade will start at 10:00 AM. It will begin at Brewster and Winslow and loop around downtown, traveling parts of Veterans, Main, Marshall and Arguello. The festival will have arts and crafts booths, food vendors and a kids area that is a safe haven for parents and kids. No pets are allowed in the kids area. It is a free event. The fireworks will be at the Port.

Menlo Park is having a parade and celebration beginning at 11:45 AM from the parking lot on Santa Cruz and Chestnut down Santa Cruz to Burgess Park. Decorate a bike or wagon and participate in this people parade. The celebration is from Noon to 2:30 PM at Burgess Park, the end point of the parade. There will be plenty of fun activities, food and music. A $7.00 wristband is required for some activities.

At Palo Alto’s Mitchell Park will be the 32nd Annual Summer Festival and Chili Cook Off. Live music, food vendors and children’s activities will take place from Noon to 5:00 PM. Chili tasting starts at 1:30 PM. Admission is free and tasting kits will be sold for a nominal fee. More here.
