Crossroads Irish-American Festival. The 10th annual festival begins Saturday, March 9 – 11:00 am – 12:00 pm with a children’s hour of music, song and dance! Brothers Sean and Pat O’Donnell will entertain while playing lively tunes on fiddle and accordion. The San Francisco-based Celtic Voices Children’s Choir will also perform.
The festival continues until April 26th with a variety of events hosted by various venues throughout San Francisco. There are readings, dance performances, and live concerts. Events at the Crossroads Irish-American Festival range from free to around $20 per person. Check it out.
St. Patrick’s Day 5K. Sunday, March 10 – Kids run at 9:45 am, other runs at 9:00am COWs spend your day with your knees up instead of your elbows bent, at a St. Patrick’s Day 5K! This race offers a kid category and registration fees are minimal ($5 ages 18 and over, $3 ages 11 to 17, free under age 10). So giddy up and run from Crissy Field East Beach to Fort Point and back.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival. On Saturday March 16th the United Irish Societies of San Francisco, Inc. presents its annual Parade and Festival to celebrate Irish culture. The parade starts at 11:30 from 2nd and Market Street to Civic Center in San Francisco. The Festival runs from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Joe Alioto Performing Arts Plaza (outside San Francisco City Hall). The theme of this year’s Festival is “Honoring the Celtic Woman” Note: this is an alcohol-free event.
San Jose Youth Synphony Philharmonic Orchestra. March 16 at 2:30 a very special showcasing of outstanding young musicians, including winners of the 2012 Philharmonic Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition playing pieces by Rimsky-Korsakov, Fauré, Chaminade, Romberg and Smetana. Dubin St. Patricks Day Celebration! —Saturday, March 16 & Sunday, March 17. If you’re a city named Dublin, you better put up a rootin tootin St. Patrick’s Day celebration! This festival features a Parade on Saturday, March 16 at 9:30am on Dublin Blvd, a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 16 from 7:00 – 10:00am at the Fire Station #16 (little firetruck fans, will have a hoot!) a festival Saturday and Sunday and a Shamrock 5K Fun Run & Walk on Sunday, March 17 at 8:30am at the Civic Plaza.
