Democracy depends on participation. Once again, we urge all COWS to consider volunteering for a role in Town governance. Woodside relies on volunteers for Council, Planning Commission, ASRB and the many other committees. Without them, the same few people do these important jobs over and over again. This results in the insularism which we have complained about.

In April, Staff presented COWncil with recommendations to implement a Citizens Ad Hoc Committee on town volunteerism to help encourage participation. Since then there have been several meetings at Town hall. The next one will be September 19th at 1 p.m. at …

COWmittee Volunteers Needed!

The Town of Woodside is looking for volunteers for a number of COWmittees. There are quite a number of openings. Volunteers who serve on these COWmittees play an important role in developing Town policies. We applaud all COWs who give their time and energy in service. We urge all COWs to consider volunteering.

The LEH meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Each member is appointed for a term of two-years.

It is the time of year to once again have fun at Day of the Horse in Woodside. There are 3 days of celebrating the contributions horses make in our Town and COWnty and our Town’s equestrian heritage. Whether you ride or not, the Day of the Horse provides fun and entertainment for everyone.

We want to remember one of our own, a true friend of the environment and of this Town. Long time Woodside resident Marion Timmy Gallagher passed away at the age of 99 last month. She was a horticulturist and wildflower expert. Mrs. Gallagher moved to Woodside in 1941, fell in love with California and all its natural beauty. She was determined to share her extensive horticultural knowledge and the expertise with us.

She was always strong advocate and a true friend of the Woodside Library. When a the library was built in Woodside in 1968, she worked with the …

Kings Mountain Art Fair this Weekend!

On Labor Day weekend, August 31, September 1 & 2nd 10AM – 5PM, Kings Mountain Art Fair, which is one of our favorite annual events, takes place here in Woodside. This is the 56th year for the Fair. It is ranked as one of the top 3 finest art fairs in California, based upon artists’ responses to the Art Fair SourceBook.

The Fair benefits the Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade and other community activities, including the Kings Mountain Elementary School. It is staffed completely by volunteers. It is located in a beautiful setting to spend a wonderful day.
